PFAS treatment selection best practices: expedient pilot testing and alternative routes to compliance and public trust.
Amanda Canida of Black & Veatch is the lead on the guidance for PFOS treatment evaluation approaches for permit and plant approval, a guidance document that she is working on with AWWA that is funded through the Water Information Technology Action Fund (WITAF).
The document is being created to determine which circumstances warrant the time-consuming and expensive process of pilot testing and which should be subject to alternative treatment approaches, such as desktop studies or benched scale studies. If a pilot is required, the document will outline the process and necessary steps.
Find the document at the AWWA website at the end of January, 2025. There will be a webinar for AWWA members mid-to-late February.
